I know that some of my hardware, and software won't work with vista, but I'm wondering if my existing viruses and spyware will run on Vista. If not, has anybody seen a spyware or virus-infected Vista box yet? How long until this important sector gets up to date with the new version of Windows?
Can Windows Vista be infected by a virus?pc security
Yes, Windows Vista is susceptible to viruses.
There are many antivirus and antispyware manufacturers out there that have Vista capable software.
The virus and spyware writers are more clever today than yesterday. There is no system, even Mac, that is resilient from virus attack without antivirus.
Your Vista machine came with Windows Defender preinstalled, but a third party antivirus is quite necessary.
I hope this helps.
Can Windows Vista be infected by a virus?symantic
Vista is not exempt from a Virus Attack,
It can be infected just as easily as Windows can. If you have, lets say, a HD with a copy of Windows XP it, and its infected, hooking it up will cause Vista to be infected. Suggest you download a copy of AVG Antivirus and Spybot S%26D. Neither are trials and they both work great.
Yet another reason to wait until the first service pack comes out for vista in april-may 08.
Yes - Vista can be infected by a virus.
Vista sounds like it will end up like "windows millennium". and some other new windows software. You know, never really working correct. Then they come out with a new windows in a couple of years that really works. I'm sticking with XP Pro as long as I can.
Windows Vista may have extra security features but it can still be infected with specially crafted viruses
