Install the program as normal. After installation, right click the executable and click "Properties". Go to the Compatibility tab. Adjust the settings according to the program.

as said above use compatability mode. if that does'nt work there is no silver bullet available. vista sucks at running older software it was written into the code so you'd have to go buy all new software as well as a new p/c to use it.
Most programs run fine in vista 32. In vista 64 you have to disable digital driver signing by using freeware called Vista Boot Pro.
