You need a valid cd key as well as a copy of winxp on cd to install with. Registration and activation usually go thru an online route if your network card gets detected correctly. If not, you'll have to call their 800 number that displays on the product activation screen. Its also entirely possible you'll have to search for all the drivers for your system, because winxp won't have all the drivers for the latest hardware.

By using the code that came with your XP cd. Before you decide to leave Vista try the following things to make Vista faster and use less memory.

1. Install SP1 (speeds things up)

2. Disable the Aero (aka 3D) theme

3. Disable the widget side bar
The method of activating your windows was introduced in Vista, XP doesn't have an activation process. Just as long as you installed your Windows XP using your XP serial number (provided with your computer as a sticker on the side of your chassis or on your XP installation CD packaging) you'll be fine.

:)
just put the bootable cd of windows xp and restary ur pc and change the bios then follow the instructions and it will be automatically done but give the passward when it asks
You may have to phone up Microsoft's activation line, which will guide you through the steps to activating. As long as you have an XP licence, you should be able to downgrade.
