Do you think I should do an in-place upgrade of Windows Vista Home Premium or should I do a clean install? If I do a clean install, how do I back up my software the was pre-installed on my Windows XP computer? I have Sonic and and muvee autoProducer 4.5 SE and I want them to stay but if I do a clean install, they're gone. How should i back these softwares up?

Try using an imaging program like ghost. If you have the install CDs for these programs, you might not need to back up these programs. Or, for the best possible result, buy another hard drive (cheap nowadays) and use the new hard drive for the clean install.
I would do the in-place upgrade last. Personally.
