Most PC's they make today have an encrypted vista, meaning its locked, if you want to install xp it will probably be easier to format and install xp from there. :)

That happens when you have Vista booted up

Turn off and boot your pc from the xp cd-rom

to do this

Turn off your PC with the Windows XP CD inside

Turn it on again right away you notice a black screen

Press the button that correspond with the option select boot device

F1 for HP system...i think

F2 for Dell System...not sure but youll see it for your self

then once your running the From the CD it will tell you what you need to do inorder to install windows xp...this however will wipe your entire hard drive

Windows Vista is a more secure Operating System and stable also but if you dont like it

The wesite below covers steps to installing windows XP

Gud Luck!
Do a low level format first. Put DBAN on a floppy or CD, then boot from it. After DBAN is finished you will have no partitions, no OS. Then you should be able to install XP:

http://dban.sourceforge.net/
You have to format the hard drive and delete the partitions, you should do that when you are installing XP, just follow the on screen instructions.
